Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

offer. It meets again on 15 January.

Dates have yet to be set for JIC meetings in the Eastern region and the East Midlands. In Sheffield and South Yorkshire RHA members have refused to give their negotiators a mandate to make an offer, or even to meet the unions.

Outside the RHA fold the TGWU is still negotiating with BP to improve an offer of 10.9% to 400 drivers. "We meet the company again on 14 January," says TGWU national secretary John Moore. "We expect an improved offer which will conclude the negotiations."

Moore is also deep in talks with the NFC companies. A meeting with BRS is set for 7 February, where the TGWU hopes to win improvements on a pay offer made and rejected on 17 December. At this stage neither the union nor the company will disclose how much money is on the table, but Moore says BRS is considering some other points in the union claim as well.

At another NFC company, Pickfords, the TGWU lodged its claim of inflation plus 2% on 7 January.

At Tankfreight the union hopes to conclude a productivity deal by the end of March; the agreement with Exel Logistics expires on 1 February and meetings are expected before then.
