• Eaton has produced a pinion for axles used in heavyduty truck applications which it says is both lighter and stronger than standard models.
This has been achieved thanks to a new 'Webbed' side gear which won Eaton the 1990 Forging of the Year competition, ahead of major names such as River Don Forgings and British Aerospace.
In addition to prototypes, Eaton has already supplied 300 gear sets for field trials prior to its full-scale introduction.
