Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Andover Trailers has supplied a 55-tonne GVW lowloader trailer with a particularly low deck height to allow drilling rigs to be transported below 5.0 metre motorway bridges.

The customer, Plant Hire Universal, specified a maximum laden deck height, and to achieve this at the required load demanded an unusual design solution.

The trailer chassis members had to be comparatively shallow (and thus more flexible) to achieve the necessary ground clearance, so to accommodate the deflection caused when the load was placed on the deck, the chassis is curved upwards by 75mm when unladen.

The trailer is also specified with a detachable hydraulic neck, and Granning raise/lower air suspension with a lifting rear axle. Dual plating allows the trailer to operate under either C&U or STGO regs.
