awarded MAN's new F90 range the title "Truck of the Year 1987". The judging criterion for the award is said to be based on the contenders' "contribution to the efficiency of the carriage of goods by road". The judges somehow use this criterion to compare complete new model ranges with specific new individual models with carrying capacities from one tonne upwards.
The Mercedes 1944 came second to the MAN F90 range, followed by a new medium weight range of Steyr trucks, followed by ERF's E Series followed by the Ford Transit.
