Syncro High roof Transporter Ambulance is the first of 12 ordered by the authority.
The first vehicle is fitted with VW's 58kW (78hp) 1.9 litre petrol engine, but all future vehicles delivered will be equipped with the four-cylinder 52kW (70hp) 1.6 litre turbocharged diesel engine.
The simplicity of the Syncro system means that no special training is needed to drive the ambulances, and they can be converted into minibuses.
