Many businesses around town just didn't realise they were operating at a disadvantage. Either with an overly-large van running around half-empty. Or, little better, a small carderived van with both limited and hard-to-get-at loadspace.
Fitting smartly in between comes the Luton-built Bedford Rascal. It gives the maximum loadspace for the minimum street space.
The Rascal carries over half a tonne (625kg maximum including driver) in more than 93 cubic feet of loadspace. That's three times more than some carderived vans.
And with twin, sliding sidedoors and high-lift rear door, loading and unloading is easy. Even in confined spaces.
There's also a drop-side pick-up truck version with over 27 square feet of loadspace.
It's no over-revving buzzbox, either. A robust 970cc 4-cylinder engine with a 5-speed gearbox (there's a 4-speed option, too) gives lively performance.
Kerb-to-kerb turning ci is under 29 feet. The rack pinion steering is light and precise. Servo-assisted brak are disc front, drum rear. A. the cab, it's certainly big on the creature comforts.
