THE systern of fixed stopping-places for buses in London is to be established in the central area and on certain mainroutes outside. On Wednesday, the Aldgate-Barking route was treated in this manner, whilst the Victoria-Downham Way and other services are also to have fixed stopping-places. There are to be about six fixed halts per mile.
£60,000 MUNICIPAL PLANS. UTUNICIPAL transport developments 1V1costing over £60,000 have' just been approved. On Monday, Nottingharo'City Council adopted a report of its passenger-transport committee seeking authority to borrow E30,000 for the purchase of 18 buses for existing and new routes, as well as £4,000 for B44 alteratiOns to a depot. It was stated that well over £20,000 would be required to put the few remaining trams into efficient order; a still larger sum would be required to deal with the tram track.
Last week, 'Derby Town Council agreed to the omnibus committee's scheme, which is to cost £28,300 and which includes the conversion of the Osmaston Park Road route to trolleys bus operation. A further route is to be dealt with so soon as possible.
