Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The police are to form the first ever national, dedicated squad to investigate truck and vehicle theft.

Responding to long-term calls from CM and the industry, London-based National Criminal Intelligence Service will set up a vehicle crime desk later this year. A working group will look at additional resources for the team: it has not been decided how many officers will work on it.

Metropolitan Police refuse to link the new service and the civilianisation last month of several officers working for the Met's Stolen Vehicle Squad.

MP for Corby, William Powell, who is leading a political campaign to raise awareness of truck theft, says he is sure there is a link between a cut in officers at the Met and moves at NCIS.

The new desk will work with police Regional Crime Squads and Interpol.
