THE Road Transport Industry Training Board this week approved the appointment of T. E. Tindall as its director general.
Mr. Tindall, 42, is group training manager of the Leyland Motor Corpora tion.
He graduated from Leeds University in 1948 and entered the employment of Pukington Bros. Ltd., St. Helens as an assistant education and training officer.
In 1951, he moved to the English Steel Corporation in Manchester as training officer and during 12 years with that company graduated to the post of labour manager.
In 1963, he joined Leyland Motors Ltd. as training manager and the following year was appointed group training manager for the Corporation with responsibility for recruitment and training of staff in the Group's 49 U.K. establishments and in a steadily growing number of factories and service centres abroad.
Mr. Tindall has become accustomed to initiating ventures in the field of training: at both English Steel and Leyland, his brief was to establish new training patterns and organizations. He now tackles the largest of his pioneering tasks-the launching of the Road Transport Industry Training Board. But, even in this comparatively new world he has acquired direct experience: he has been chairman of the working party on training in craft skills for the vehicle engineering branch of the Engineering Industry Training Board and has been chairman of the working party concerned with foundry technologists. He is also a member of two of the policy committees of the EITB and of the joint committee.
Mr. Tindall is married with three children. He hopes to take up his new appointment at the beginning of April 1967.
