The Forensic Science Service (FSS) has reported that an increasing number of companies are testing both prospective and existing employees for drugs in an attempt to tackle their misuse in and away from the workplace. Drug abuse has implications for employees' health, safety and productivity, whether used at, or outside, work. The FSS has produced a booklet* to help companies introduce a screening policy.
In recognition of this growing problem, business leaders have also announced new initiatives to tackle drug misuse aimed at private sector companies.
