Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Distribution isn't the last job in the world graduates would dream of doing—but almost, according to an NOP survey.

The nationwide research, conducted on behalf of The Guardian and British Airways, asked more than 2,200 recent graduates which industry sector they would like to work in. At the top of the wish list, more than a quarter said they would like to work in the media. At the bottom of the pile, the logistics sector scored just 4%—only the utilities did worse. These findings confirm the Freight Transport Association's fears that the industry is unattractive with no recognisable career path for graduates.

The FTA says it is working in schools to address the industry's problem but agrees more has to be done. "The industry needs to convince young people that there's more to distribution and logistics than driving a lorry and it can offer just as many opportunities for learning skills in marketing, IT, accounting and so on," it adds.
