Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Cummins has set up a new European support package for PSV operators running on the continent with Cumminspowered coaches. The back-up programme allows drivers to get emergency cover from 17 Cummins continental service deales in 15 countries, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

For a fee of 220, participants in the scheme receive two copies of Cununins' Euro Support Manual, which lists all relevant dealers with PSV expertise. It includes maps, emergency parts lists and de tails on arranging for payments. Amendments to the manual will be sent to those covered by the scheme, but to allow the issue of arnmendments, Cummins says that the list of its continental contacts, and their locations, will only be given to registered Euro Support Manual holders.

In addition to roadside assistance, the package covers recovery (including accidents); electrical repairs; tyres (repairs and replacement); brakes (adjustment); batteries (whether replacement or repair); minor bodywork repairs; and all aspects of servicing/ chassis lubrication.

Cummins distributors will also provide support and liaison with nominated vehicle manufacturers and carry out repairs to Cummins engines covered by warranty.

The 17 mainland Europe ser vice centres are supplied by Cummins' parts distribution centre in Mechelen, near Brussels as well as from the UK, which can offer major components or exchange units.

For the more mechanicallyminded driver, Cummins can also supply an emergency parts kit for the L-10 engine through its Wellingborough outlet.

The setting up of the new PSV support scheme should help increase Cummins' standing with continental touring companies who may have considered Cummins-powered coaches, but have preferred to stick with continental chassis due to their superior service back-up.

Cummins says that it is planning to expand the system.
