Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Seven new-to-the-UK Hino truck-models, extending from 7.5 to 38 tonnes, are expected to be launched during 1988 to complement the Japanese manufacturer's existing six and eight-wheel rigid chassis currently sold in Britain.

Hino's long awaited 38-tonne sleeper cab 4x4 tractive unit, the SH283KA, was finally put through type approval last week and barring any delays with paperwork it is expected to go on sale in January.

The SH283KA is powered by an 8.8-litre charge-cooled in-line six Hino diesel which develops 206kW (276hp) at 2,300rpm and has maximum torque of 961Nm (7091bft) delivered at 1,400rpm. Both these ratings are to the Japanese J1S D1001 standard.

In Japan the SH283KA's engine is fitted with full electronic fuel injection control, but the initial batch of British SH283KA tractive units will have conventional fuel injection equipment.

Hino importer HCV Motor Vehicles of Warrington says that an electronically-controlled injection version of the SH283KA is likely to go on sale in Britain sometime during the summer of 1988.

The SH283KA has an allJapanese driveline, with the exception of its standard ninespeed Fuller RTX 11609B range-change gearbox. HCV will also offer the SH283KA with the option of a Twin Splitter box.

Although little more is known about the SH283KA, it is thought that with a full tank of fuel, fifth wheel, and 11R 22.5 tyres fitted all round it will have a kerb weight of 6,070kg.

While it will initially only be available as a two-axle model with the single power rating, HCV is hoping to bring in a more powerful 256kW (340hp) version later in the year, as well as a twin-steer model.

In addition HCV is planning to import a number of new-tothe-UK Hino models, which will be built up by J Harris (Assemblers) of Cloghran, County Dublin.

The first will be the 7.5tonne FB 143 chassis equipped with a 103kW (138hp) fourcylinder turbocharged engine driving through a five-speed gearbox.

This will be followed by the 10-tonne FD176, driven by a six-cylinder naturally-aspirated diesel, rated at 112kW (150hp), with a six-speed box.

This engine and gearbox combination is also fitted to the 15-tonne FF155 rigid chassis, while an uprated version of the six-cylinder Hino engine, rated at 155kW (207hp), is used in the 17-tonne FH 224 rigid.

At the moment Hino has three main and three service dealers in the UK.
