Oil-fired Heater ONE of the features of a new American-made heater to be marketed by W. C Youngman Ltd is the provision of an afterburner cone which ensures complete combustion and prevents unpleasant fumes caused by unburned gases. This Reddy heater is designed to make full use of all the heat generated which amounts to 50,000 b.t.u. per hour (equivalent to over 14 kW).

The fuel atomizer is of the low-pressure aspirating type, suitable for use with domestic grade paraffin; it is operated by a small rotary compressor which also supplies the fuel through a vacuum-feed system. The mixture is ignited by a spark plug charged by a 5,000 V continuous duty transformer mounted alongside the motor, which is a fractional h.p. unit. The burner unit and stainless-steel combustion chamber are contained within a heavy steel housing finished in baked enamel and incorporating a carrying handle.

A capacity of 3-75 gal. of fuel is provided for, the consumption of the unit being 0.275 g.p.h. The unit has an air flow out put of 100 ft.a/min.
