Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AS a result of this year's elections Mr. Geoffrey Wilson, Conservative MP for Truro, has come back into the leadership of the Conservative back-bench transport committee.

Mr. Wilson, who is 62, is a long-standing Tory transport expert. An Associate of the Institute of Transport, his career has included 20 years' service with the railways in the west of England. Apart from Mr. Wilson, who has been elected a vice-chairman of the committee, and the chairman (Sir Martin Redmayne), the Tories now have a youngish team with which to harass Mr. Tom Fraser and his supporters.

The other vice-chairman this year is Mr. Daniel Awdry (41), MP for Chimenham, and the two hon. secretaries are Sir Clive Bossom (47). MP for Leominster. and Mr. Reginald Eyre (42), MP for Hall Green, Birmingham. Au ex-naval officer, Mr. Eyre is a lawyer —a useful attribute when it comes to scanning the legislation which Mr. Fraser will be presenting soon.

Rear Bumpers for Commercials?

ma. FRASER told the Commons this week that he had asked the National Road Safety Advisory Council to consider the fitting of astandard size of rear fender or guard rail to prevent accidents caused by vehicles or cyclists running under the back of large vehicles and being wedged there. Mr. David Webster (421, last year's joint vice-chairman, does not hold office this year. But he is still very much one of the team, as he holds second postion to My. Redmayne in the Shadow Cabinet transport team.

No doubt Mr. Webster has been released from committee duties to enable him to intensify the Commons attack on Mr. Fraser's record, which he is pursuing with some success.
