ARECENT introduction of Messrs. W, A. Greenslade, SO, St. Thomas Street, Bristol, is a new Economy fourwheeled horsebox trailer. This has a number of attractive features, among which may be named its low floor height, reasonable cost and the fact that it is equipped with Ackerman steering gear.

With a side entrance, permitting the use of a ramp 6 ft. wide, the vehicle incorporates a separate groom's compartment to which access is gained by a second door at the rear. Each stall is lined with 1-in. T and G board, reinforced where necessary with steel kicking plates. There is a hinged door communicating with the grooms compartment, which has seating accommodation for four persons. Equipment includes a bell communicating with. the towing vehicle.

Having an overall length of 14 ft. 5 ins., a width of 5 ft. 10 ins, and an inside height of 7 ft. 2 ins., this Economy trailer costs £190. The loading height is 1 ft. 7 ins.,. and the weight 22 cwt., whilst it incorporatesa B42 forage locker measuring 3 ft. 6 ins. by 5 ft. 6 ins. The body is ash framed and panelled with steel. Provision is made for horses to travel facing either backwards or forwards.

With regard to the chassis, the frame is interbuilt with the body, steel members, reinforced with ash, being used. The front axle, of 11-in. section, is cranked and carries swivelling stub axles equipped with 5-in, roller bearings. There is a semi-turntable at the centre, to which the drawbar is attached. Provided with bearings of the same size as those at the front, the rear axle is also cranked, but is 11 ins in section.

There are eight 2-in, plates in each spring, the centre distances being 32 ins. Disc wheels, shod with 5-19 tyres, are employed. A towing eye is fixed at the rear to facilitate manoeuvring.
