Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Office of Fair Trading is investigating allegations of unfair competition between twc Midland bus operators, even though it has been researching anti-competitive fare-fixing arrangements between the twc firms since last summer.

It has just completed investigating Midland Fox, following allegations by independent operator Gilbert Kinch of Loughborough of anticompetitive practices and predatory pricing in the Loughborough area (CM 8-14 June).

An OFT spokesman says it has also been investigating alleged anti-competitive practices between the two operators for more than 12 months.

Midland Fox says that this alleged fare-fixing agreement covered the same operations ir Loughborough that Kinch claims are the subject of unfair price cutting.

The OFT will not say when it will make a decision on either or both of these questions.

Because they are covered b] different legislation it is having to deal with them separately.
