• South West London's Vauxhall Cross improvement scheme, which has been designed to eliminate congestion when Covent Garden Market moves to Nine Elms early next year, opened on Sunday. Roadways have been extensively widened and additional signal controls introduced. All roads in the central part of the system, with the exception of Bondway and Bridgefoot, have been made one-way.
