• A lorry which could not stand up to the tough conditions of building sites landed building merchant Robert J. Gamier Ltd before the South Wales deputy LA last week.
Managing director, Mr Roy Capener, said that the vehicle which was the subject of two GV9s had given trouble with the brakes. He added that it had to deliver to many bad sites and "could not stand up to the tough conditions". The firm has now brought a more robust lorry.
Defects listed on the GV9s included tyre trouble, caused by bad loading, a loose cross-member bolt, loose rear wing, a missing wheel stud nut and a faulty door-catch.
The company runs three vehicles and the LA decided that a stiff warning on the future maintenance of the vehicles would be sufficient punishment.
