Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• TLT Distribution, .a division of Tate and Lyle Transport Ltd, has opened a purposebuilt depot at Avonmouth, Bristol, for the storage and distribution of mixed goods.

The 160,000 sq ft depot will serve as the company's main warehouse in the area and, in conjunction with existing depots at Barry. Taunton and Tavistock, will provide complete distribution facilities for South Wales and South West England. The new installation replaces the company's depot at Keynsham, which was inadequate for future requirements.

Avonmouth is the third major depot to be opened since TLT began multiple distribution through its sugar depots and is another step towards providing a national distribution network. Depots at Barry and Brighouse were opened last year. Each depot has been chosen for its motorway connections and in this case the depot is less than a half

mile away from M5 and 7 miles from M7 junction.

The depot itself is a single-storey building laid out as a normal distribution warehouse with floor level loading and unloading. Reach trucks and conventional pallet racking have been chosen in preference to more complex equipment. Break-bulk and shrinkwrapping services are provided together with security storage areas. A staff of 90 will be employed by the depot under the management of Mr K. L. Pullan, previously TLT depot manager at Cardiff.

A wide range of products of manufacturers other than Tate and Lyle will be delivered out of Avonmouth.

Vehicle maintenance will be provided by Transport Engineering Services, another division of Tate and Lyle Transport which is shortly to open a workshop on an adjacent site.
