• The prices of British Leyland vehicles, including commercials, are to rise by an average of seven per cent with effect from midnight on Sunday following approval given this week by the Price Commission.

Increases to vehicles in the Bedford and Chrysler ranges are almost certain to follow after their similar applications have been considered. In contrast, however, and on the grounds that the company's record profits last year do not justify any increase the Commission refused a similar request from Ford last month.
