Mr. F. W. Beney, Q.C., for the L.C.C., who objected at the resumed hearing of the British Transport Commission's application for confirmation of London fare increases which came into force at the beginning of the year, said that witnesses agreed that fare increases acted as a deterrent to the travelling public. , If a moderate experimental reduction pointed to a greater loss, the B.T.C. could "always come back and put the matter right," he said.

The hearing was concluded. Decision will be announced at a later date.
