Mr. 3. R. Brockhouse has resigned from the board of J. Brocichouse and Co. Ltd., of which he has been a member since 1948. He is to take up residence in the Bahamas.

Dr. K. E. W. Ridler, of the British Petroleum Co. Ltd., has succeeded Mr. Edward Mayne, formerly of the Royal Dutch Shell Group, as chairman of the International Road Federation, London office.

Mr. F. B. Tanner, director of Citroen Cars Ltd., Slough, Bucks, has retired at the age of 71. Although he has retired from active service after 38 years, Mr. Tanner will remain a director of the company.

Mr. John E. Rayner has been appointed assistant manager of the Castrol Group vehicles department. Mr. Rayner is 29 and joined Castro! in 1951.

The Council of the Motor Industry Research. Association has appointed Prof. R. H. Macmillan as director of the association in succeSsiOn to Dr. A. Fogg, vyho is taking up an appointment in industry. Prof. Macmillan is currently professor of mechanical engineering in the University of Wales at Swansea. He took a first-class honours degree in engineering in 1941 and until 1946 was in the technical branch of the R.A.F., when he joined the

staff of the engineering department at Cambridge University. He took up hiS present position at Swansea in 1956 and was appointed chairman of the department of engineering. and Dean of Applied Science in 1960. Prof. Macmillan is now vice-chairman of the South Wales branch of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and a member of the 1.Meeh.E. automatic control group. Dr. Fogg has been the director of since its inception in 1946. (Sales) Ltd. and Mr. R. C. Tarling, deputy group commercial manager, have joined Mr. J. 0. Rowley, director and general manager, A.E.C. Ltd., on the board. The Spanish representation has also been strengthened by the appointment to the board of Mr. J. M. Antomanzas. He was previously general manager, having earlier been chief engineer of the Barreiros metallurgical and engine divisions. In the Edinburgh area of the Traders Road Transport Association (Scottish area) Mr, W. T. Fairbairn has been elected chairman and Mr. N. Gay vicechairman. In the Central Scotland area the chairman is Mr. R. B. W. Ross and vice-chairman Mr. G. R.' McLeod. In the Aberdeen area the chairman is Mr. R. Lawson kw. and the vice-chairman Mr. A. Chapman.
