Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

T° help meet increased costs of about £250,000 a year, the Birmingham and Midland 'Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., arc to seek fare revisions. The last increases came into operation on September 213, 1957.

It is now proposed to apply a mileage scale and to increase only those single and scholars' return fares which are below the scale. In addition, fares up to 8id will be increased by not more than Id., those from 9d. to is. lid, by not more than id., and from 2s. upwards by not more than 2d.

The new schedule includes the retention of the existing two stages for 3d. and three stages for 4d„ but for four stages the fare goes up to 5d.

DAVID BROWN LINK WITH U.S. COMPANY

PisA PLAN which will link two centuryold power transmission equipment manufacturers in Great Britain and the United States was announced jointly this week by Mr. David Brown, chairman and managing director of the David Brown Corporation, Ltd., and Mr. James Fagan, president of Foote Bros., Gear and Machine Corporation, Chicago.

Subject to the approval by Foote Bros.' stockholders of a reclassification of the company's capital stock, at a meeting to be held on May 6, David Brown will acquire a substantial minority interest in Foote Bros. The David Brown Corporation will be represented on the American company's board by Mr. David Brown and Mr. Allan Avison, deputy managing director.

The David Brown organization is one of the principal engineering combines in Great Britain. The Foote Bros. Corporation is widely known in the power transmission field and pioneered the development of the enclosed gear drive in America in 1895.
