Final Arrangements for the Demonstration which Starts in Liverpool to-moreow (Wednesday).

Liverpool, the vehicles assembling during to-clay (Tuesday). -at McLachian's Vaux-hall. Garage in Vauxhall Road.

Scott .Hall, the travelling organizer of the denionStration,. will receive the vehicles and see that the :drivers are quite clear . as to their. instructions:These instructions, have been issued in the . form of an eight:page booklet with a stiff linen cover, and this gives the driver full details as to garage arrangements,' as to hotel sleeping accommodation, . the route; the times to be ,observed throughout the Whole distance, full details as to watering places and as to the vehicles-, taking part; the booklet also -contains, a few hints to the drivers as to their observances • throughout the whole of the :demonstration_ in order that punctuality should be nsurecl-rind that the amenities of the roads be preserved, the drivers 'being instructed to travel at a distance. of 100.. yards roni. the Wagon immediately in front, and they are enjoined to keep their vehicles

With the exception of the display board, which gives in a. few words the :purpose of: tiledemonstration,,, viz.; that it is desired to promote transport by the use of British-built vehicles consuming a home-pro:. duced fuel, there are to be no numbers or any other adornment on the vehicles.

The Lord Mayor of Liverpool transfers his office to-morrow (Wednesday), and, therefore, has had to express his regret that he will not be able to be present al: -the demonstration, but other municipal officials of Liverpool and many people prominent -in transport have signified their intention to be present so that the vehicles shall have a good sendoff.

At Preston the vehicles will be received in Sessions Square, and his Worship the Mayor, the Chief Constable and other civic and Lancashire County Council authorities have promised to be present to bid them we] come.

The Mayor of. Blackburn and other officials of the corporation have arranged to see the vehicles on the morning of Thursday and to bid them God-speed on their second day's run.

Municipal reception is being arranged for Burnley and .Bradford, and when the vehicles arrive at Leeds the Lord Mayor has arranged to visit the fleet in Victoria Square. Many notable persons in the neighbourhood have also promised to be present, and so one could go right through the whole of the route and Show how municipal encouragement is being given to the parade, because after Wednesday and Thursday no difficulty will arise out of the transfer of the mayoral office. These difficulties had been foreseen, but the . period for the demonstration was determined by the . need for the wagons to arrive in London by the evening of November 16th and to cover the longest useful

• route in the time.

In the important towns of Sheffield, Huddersfield, Oldham, Manchester, Warrington, Newcastle-underLyme, Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Wolverhampton, Bir. iningham and Coventry. the participants. in the demonstration are assured of an official reception, and on Wednesday evening they will be parked at Whetstone. . The Commercial Vehicle Exhibition will be opened at 3 pan., and immediately after the opening ceremony the chairman of the Commercial Vehicle Committee, Mr. Sydney Guy, and the chairman of the Steam

. Vehicle Committee, Mr. Victor R. Garrett, will cOnduct (so it is intended) the Minister of Transport, the Sneriffs of London and other distinguished guests to the parade ground at the side of Olympia for the inspection of the vehicles ,which have gone through the demonstration. • .

• A 24-page brochure with the slogan, "Transport Your Heavy Loads by British-built Steam Wagons Consuming Home-produced Fuel," has been distributed broadcast. This is the production of The Commercial Motor, at its sole expense, and besides containing a large amount of useful information regarding the demonstration it includes interesting articles dealing with the steam wagon and about coal, and space for a 'display announcement has been provided for each -participant in the latter part of the brochure. A copy will be sent post free toany readers who may choose to write to vs for it. .

We invite our readers to attend at the stopping; places for an inspection of the vehicles, which are all, of the latest type with the exception of the Leyland, which belongs to H. Viney and Co., .Ltd„, of Preston, has covered 200,000 miles since May, 1913, and is an example of a well-kept vehicle.
