WHEN the Road Haulage Wages Council met on Wednesday to hear an application by the unions for an increase in pay for road haulage workers, British Road Services had still not received a similar demand. The unions also asked for higher subsistence allowances, the up-grading of certain towns and a revision of the holiday period. The claim was discussed by the employers' panel. on Tuesday afternoon. Their mood was firmer than it has been in similar circumstances on recent occasions. There was a general belief that there was no justification for the demand.

W11HIN two weeks of placing a 250.000 order with the Leyland Group, Ceylon Transport Board have ordered 80 Albion Aberdonian buses and 20 M.C.W. bodies for 20 Aberdonian chassis previously specified. The new demands are worth 1400,000.
£250,000 ATKINSON ORDER
ATKINSON vehicles valued at more than £250,000 have been ordered by the South African Railways.
