Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• 'FCS TRANSPORT, a division of The Crown Suppliers has now closed its "Unleaded Hot-line". Most questions, says David Balderson, of TCS Transport, fell into one of two categories: 1, Are the benefits for unleaded fuel real?

TCS Transport's consistent answer was a resounding yes!

2, Is running on unleaded all I need to do? The consistent answer here was a definitive no!

However, Bill Pinkney of TCS Transport adds that while environmental benefits are quite plain, a user would have to make an economic judgment on the cost of converting a van or car which is around five years old (unleaded fuel is economically competitive with diesel).

TCS Transport has devised its own servicing programme with deliberate emphasis on environmentally sensitive maintenance routines.

"As standard," says Pinkney, "we carry out many inspections — brakes, for instance — at more frequent intervals than those specified by manufacturers. Equally, we've proved that some items needn't be checked as often as suggested, without compromising safety or efficiency."

Anyone still baffled by competing claims from fuel marketers on "green fuels", he says, can call at their transport centres for a professional and unbiassed explanation.

TCS Transport has been enabled by special legislation to deal with both the private and public sector, and its full range of services, including vehicle maintenance and vehicle procurement, will become freely available when the privatisation of The Crown Suppliers is completed towards the end of 1990.

TCS Transport has considerable experience in the supply of vehicles to the public sector — from light commercial vehicles to larger special-purpose vehicles.
