• Logistics giant Wincanton has won a five-year contract worth an estimated £65m to run clothing retailer Matalan's national distribution.
Around 120 in-house drivers will transfer to Wincanton next month (August) under the TUPE regulations which protect their terms and conditions.
Wincanton denies an internetbased report that suggests the drivers are looking for new jobs.
Chris Kingshott, Wincanton business unit director says: We hope to use our geographical spread to develop excellent service to customers, while offering Matalan's transport employees employment security and development opportunities."
Most of Matalan's transport operation is based at Skelmersdale in Lancashire.
