five wholly-owned dealerships among Renault's 16 main dealers. Based on Fifth Way in Avonmouth's industrial district, it has a huge customer catchment area spanning Evesham to Land's End and Salisbury to west Wales, hence its nine satellite franchises. Many customers are fairly local but being near the M4/M5 crossover, it also attracts a good deal of ferry traffic.
The service, parts and sales departments in Avonmouth are undergoing refurbishment at present but this isn't allowed to interrupt the workflow. The main workshop has three double bays, two half bays plus a tache section, and is open 24 hours a day on a triple-shift arrangement from Barn Monday through to 12pm Saturday.
One of the 16 workshop technicians, ex-Volvo truck apprentice Paul Jeston, was earmarked for the safety inspection on Western Tyres' Magnum accompanied by service controller Steve Hale.
