Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The strike recently of French seamen against the declining French share of cross-Channel traffic reminded me of complaints I've heard over the years about French ferry crews.

Terms like rude, laisse faire, dirty and more colourful phrases have been used to describe boats and crews. So it was not surprising to we British Europeans to hear that Normandy Ferries had chosen to operate another vessel under the British flag. The official reason given was that it was cheaper because of the Anglo-French wage differential, and who am I to argue? But I have heard and continue to hear voluble criticism of French crews and ferries.
