Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A sacked supermarket lorry driver is fuming after an industrial tribunal decided not to award him compensation, despite upholding his claim for unfair dismissal.

Michael auritt, 41, received £727 in lost wages at the award hearing in Leeds following his sacking by Bradford-based chain William Morrison Supermarket.

He is still unable to work after suffering a back injury in October 1991 which led to Morrison dismissing him for taking time off the job. "It doesn't seem fair at all. 1 injured myself and can't work. I have a tumour on my vertebrae and have doctors' certificates to prove it," says Carritt. "I'm receiving invalidity benefit. But if I was on the dole now I would have got the full compensation of about £7,000."

Carritt's claim for unfair dismissal was upheld at a tribunal last month and the award hearing was held last week. "Despite the money, I have won a moral victory." says Carritt.

A spokesman for Morrison declined to comment on the case.
