THE executive council of the Scottish Commercial Motormen's Union has welcomed the suggestion of the Lord Chief Justice that a Royal Commission should be set up to investigate the problem of compensating victims of road accidents. The Union has been pressing the Minister of Transport for the past six years to introduce such legislation.
An average of 12 Union members lose their lives each year without compensation, and the Union has called on the Government to implement as soon as possible the suggested Royal Commission_
