Turn the Tap, photographic concern, That's All. has, I should judge,

brought thousands of -converts to amateur photography, and it has taken its place amongst English illuminating phrases applicable to all sorts of propositions. The proprietors of Dissolved Acetylene might with equal force .adopt a terse suggestion to perplexed and worried manipulators of earbide and water. My modest suggestion is " All you do is to turn the tap:" To those of us who have spent bothersome hours with acetylene headlights, what a world of saved trouble this indicates, and it is a simple and natural development too. Commercial-vehicle users, as well as pleasure-car owners, are rapidly taking up outfits of Dissolved Acetylene, which can be obtained and renewed at the central depot in Long Acre, or from the -company's many provincial agents. Arrangements for the general supply of renewals are upon a satisfactory scale in all parts of the country.

A delicate proposition has been confided to me by a gentleman whom I have known for some years as A Suggested a maker of most-excelAmalgamation. lent commercial vehicles and pleasure ears. His

:company has been proceeding, for many years, making progress in every way, perhaps, except output; it turns out most-satisfactory work, as I know, and its chief troubles are that at one period of the year it is weeks behind with deliveries, and that at other periods it is months behind. The company has a nice plant, but it lacks the capital to increase it vastly, and it occurs to my friend that .a solution is an amalgamation with an other motor firm at present making either commercial vehicles or pleasure cars, the object being, of course, to increase the turnover, the two works going under joint supervision. The heavy vehicles could be made in the one works, and the pleasure vehicles in the other ; or, matters might be arranged in any other way to be mutually agreed upon. 1 willingly throw out this intimation, thinking it may serve its purpose, and sow the seed for a joint firm to be carried on under both names, said which, with the strength that union brings, might develop into a. powerful concern. One thing I have had some opportunity of judging—I should say that my applicant is a thorough engineer and a sound commercial man : his company's motors have a valuable if not world-wide name, and the integrity of the concern and its principals is unquestioned. Any communications will be treated confidentially, and they may be addressed to me marked " Amalgamation."

A very-kindly offer is made to the representatives of this journal during their visits to the Some Show Royal show, by Messrs.

Notes. J. Blake and Co., of Liverpool, to give us any assistance in their power. They are the local agents for the Albion and the Coodchild concerns, and the stand is No. 155. I shall personally accept their kindliness, so far as to have my letters addressed there, and I shall look round from time to time for any enquiries or complaints, or for my poor share of the compliments that are invariably bestowed upon us for the promptitude and the enterprise which is necessary to the production of our Royal-Show Number, The Editorial side of the ataff, of course, deserves all credit for a report which has been produced on this occasion under ultradaily-newspaper conditions, but, all the same, the self-effacing individual who pens these lines has his afflictions in connection with the Show Number, and he will experience a modulated form of joy when he sees the copies being eagerly devoured on the opening day. I venture to hope that a record business will be done by exhibitors

A distinct personality amongst solidtire users, and one who is assured of a welcome, is Mr. William

Settled Skidmore. He has re Down. presented more than one well-known tire firm, and he appears now to have settled down with the representation of the Avon India Rubber Co., Ltd., of Melksham, for its solid tires. He takes charge of the sales department, and his unique knowledge a tire and wheel work will stand him in good stead. The Avon tires, toot have an excellent reputation; the combination should be a lasting one.
