It-Speed Tyre
HE Motorway Special tyre produced by the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber (Great Britain), Ltd., Wolverhampton, arimarily intended for private cars but offered in sizes to suit light vans. As
its name implies, the tyre is designed to withstand constant high-speed operation. It employs nylon cords and is said to be outstandingly resistant to heat build-up.
Stylish Illumination USING similar rims which incorporate lens hoods, two auxiliary driving lamps manufactured by Joseph Lucas, Ltd., Great King Street. Birmingham, 19. provide fog or spot lighting. Traction Battery FOR a given size of cell, the Kathanode N range of traction batteries, manufactured by the D. P. Battery Co„ Ltd., Bakewell, Derbys. is stated to offer an increase in amperehour capacity over their standard range of cells with an improved capacity-to-weight ratio.
The N batteries employ triple separation by Porvic, glass-wool sheets and cedar veneers, and have special plate edge insulation to prevent internal short circuits. They are covered by a four-year guarantee.
Collapsible Vizor
DIME+ sun vizors can cause I N. injury to passengers who are thrown against them in an accident or during unexpected heavy braking. A padded vizor with a flexible frame manufactured by Tudor Accessories, Ltd., Hayes, Middx. is designed to prevent this.
The vizor, which is 1 ft. 4 in. long and 5 in. wide, has a cane frame covered with •i in, of plastics padding and a quilted plastics outer cover. Mounted on a conventional bracket it costs 24s, 6d.
Pocket Rule AN improved design of steel pocket rule has been produced by Stanley Works (G.B.), Ltd., Rutland Road, Sheffield, 3. The case is 1)-shaped and measures 2 in. along the bottom. The hook on the end of the rule automatically compensates for its own thickness, and the mouth exposes the graduations to eliminate sighting error.
The rule costs 7s. 6d, in a 6-ft. length and 10s. 6d. in a 10-ft. Types are also made in 2-m. and 3-m. lengths, or in combinations of English and metric systems.
Constant Potential DESIGNATED the MRF.600L, a constant-pontential rectifier has been added to the range of welding plant made
by Quasi-Arc, Ltd., Bilston, Staffs. It provides a flat volt/ampere characteristic over the entire working range and compensates for fluctuations in mains supply. The company claim that it combines simplicity of operation with suitable characteristics for inert-gas and other self-adjusting arc processes.
