Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DRIVERS MADE redundant by the closure ofTDG's Paisley depot are forming their own recruitment agency which they believe will cope with problems caused by the Working Time Directive (WTD).

One of the drivers, David Pattison , believes the company will be in a much stronger position than most when the WTD comes into force in May 2004. He says as many as 20 ex-TDG drivers could invest in the company that has a working title of 5-Star Driver Agency.

With the wealth of experience each driver possesses, Pattison thinks it will give the established recruitment firms a run for their money: "We intend not to be just another agency. It would appear other agencies rely on drivers joining them with all their training in place."

He says 5-Star will be able to offer candidates training in areas such as ADR and roping and sheeting. and can provide custon ers struggling to recruit with high trained employees.

But a spokeswoman for Drive Hire. which has a branch in Pai ley, says it already offers trainin in every available area of HG driving. She adds that despite a industry-wide shortage of driver the effects of the WTD do nc concern them.
