• Transport Minister Roger Freeman is setting up a working party to combat congestion, following a Bus and Coach Council report calling for a £17.5m investment programme to fund bus and coach improvement schemes (CM 8-14 November 1990).
Speaking at the BCC's annual dinner last week, Freeman commended the Buses Mean Business report, which calls for more busways, parkand-ride and cleaner fuel schemes.
Freeman has already chaired a meeting on the problem of coach parking in London and plans to hold another at the end of the month.
He says that he realises that there is a lack of satisfactory long-term coach parks.
"I am determined this problem is not going to be passed from one party to another," adds Freeman.
