In addition to manufacturing engines for chassis builders, this company devotes attention to self-contained units suitable for electric-lighting installations, for the driving of workshop and garage machinery and plant, and for pumping sets. The latest development is a small fire-fighting equipment, in which is incorporated a 1,2 h,p,, four-cylinder motor. This fire-engine is not of the self-propelled type, but is provided with a handle for manual haulage or shafts for a pony. This

equipment is capable of delivering 100 gallons a minute against a total head of 120 ft., or of throwing a jet to a vertical height of 85 ft. with a in. diameter nozzle. The field of use for such an outfit is large, and the plant should prove invaluable for outlying townships, farm buildings, and should afford ample protection against fire in any garage where a large number of public-service machines or other vehicles are installed.

The screen, however, affords ample protection to the driver in all weathers. It consists of two uprights, rigidly connected to the canopy and dashboard, between which is fitted an open frame capable of swinging. At the top and bottom of this frame are fixed detachable spring-roller blinds, consisting of Rexine of stout texture.

The screen forms an extension to the canopy as well as an apron covering for the steering wheel, leaving an adjustable slot through which the driver can see any portion of the road.
