Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Changes made in the Exhibits Included in the Motor Section of the British Empire Exhibition.

AMONG the eight-and-twenty exhibits which constitute the commercial motor section of the British Empire Exhibition, changes were made on Monday of Last week in the case of seven, whilst the remaining twenty-one continue to represent the products of their manufacturers.

Taking the exhibits in their numerical order and dealing with the replacements, Guy Motors, Ltd., show in exhibit No. 34 a 2A-ton lorry in place of an omnibus seating 20 passengens. The lorry has a 25.6 h.p. engine driving through a four. speedgearbox and bevel-type rear axle. The open body is suitable for the distribution of petrol. As shown, a it h solid tyres, the chassis is priced at £645.

Exhibit No. 35, shown by John I. Thornycroft and Co.; Ltd., is the 3-type Thornycroft 4-ton lorry, with a 50 h.p. engine (Treasury rating 36.1 h.p.). The body is suitable for the transport of table waters. With solid tyres, the chassis is priced at £845, whilst the body adds another £125. The J-type lorry has taken the place of an X-type 3-ton lorry.

Seammell Lorries, Ltd., have exchanged the general-purpose lorry which formed exhibit No. 37 until August 30th for a 12-ton box-van lorry. This is drawn by the Scammell power unit, the vehicle being therefore six-wheeled. The body is semi-insulated, is 22 ft. 6 ins on the side line, 6 ft. 3 ins. inside width, and 6 ft. 6 ins, inside height. The price of the chassis is £1,255-and of the complete vehicle £1,475. The 2-ton CY-type Karrier lorry has been removed after its period of duty, and exhibit No. 38 is now a 30-cwt. b

type Rarrier 14-seater motor omnibus. The Treasury rating of the engine is 22.4 h.p., the axle is worm-driven, and the chassis is mounted on 36-in. by 6-in. giant pneumatic tyres. The body is intended for one-man operation, and is elec• trically lighted. The price of the vehicle complete is £860.

The Albion Motor Car Co., Ltd., have replaced their 30-cwt. Albion box van with a new exhibit, No 43, in the shape of a 30-cwt. Albion petrol can wagon. The chassis conforms to the requirements of the War Office, and is, therefore, qualified for the subsidy. The body has slatted sides with one broad board on each side, and there is a firescreen between the body and the driver's cab. With electric lighting, the price of the vehicle complete is £690, the chassis price being £540. A very impressive exhibit is that numbered 231, by Leyland Motors, Ltd., the two•tonner having given place to a 7001,000-gallon fire-engine having an 80 h.p. six-cylinder engine operating a Rees.• Roturho pump. The one shown is the standard machine, but with a complete instrument board, full electrical equipment, and first-aid apparatus. The price of the standard machine is £2,000, and with the extras as shown £2,382.

"The Yorkshire power farmer, which constituted exhibit No. 236, is now displaced by the Yorkshire chain-drive tractor made by the Yorkshire Patent Steam Wagon Co. It is driven by a vertical, compound, balanced and totally enclosed engine, with double high-pressure, valve and with mechanical lubrication to the cylinder. The steam is generated in a fire-tube boiler equipped with a superheater. The power is taken through gearing to a 21-in. heavy-duty roller chain. Ackerman steering is employed. The body has been specially designed to meet Colonial conditions.

Uniø taxicab, type C9F, priced at £650; No. 229, 35 h.p six-cylinder 4-ton Halley lorry, priced at £1,075; No. 230, 25 h.p.
