EARNINGS of £8,600 made by a 7

tonner over two years were not exceptional, Mr. W. E. Squire, Bloxwich, the owner, told Mr. W. P. James, West Midland Licensing Authority, at Birmingham last week. Mr. Squire sought a second vehicle on his A licence on the ground that the existing one could not meet demands. Mr. N. Carless, for the applicant, said that he provided an unusual service, mainly carrying the products of Bloxwich Conduits, Ltd., and their associated companies. Work involved transporting small packages and making many drops. A service to London was heavily taxed, and it was impossible to sub-contract because of the nature of the traffic. Mr. Skelding, for the objectors. said that the applicant had been "picking and choosing," taking on new work and not looking after established customers. The Authority, after hearing two customer witnesses, said that he was not satisfied that a prima facie case had been made out, and the objectors would not be called.
