THE automatic' centrifugal clutches fitted to Leyland passenger vehicles are proving to be more economical in the use of fuel than was first expected. Reports from Australia indicate that Worldmaster buses so equipped in New South Wales are showing a fuel saving of 8 per cent.
The Department of Government Transport have placed an order for another 50 Worldmasters, making a total of some £1.3m. invested in this type of vehicle. The additional buses will help to step-up the tram-replacement programme.
