Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN applicationby James Reid, liquidator of the Dalkeith transport business of Richard Ayton Ltd., for eight vehicles on A licence and two on B, resumed from August, was heard in Edinburgh on Monday. Decision was reserved.

The business went into liquidation in January, 1962, with some 300 creditors. They sought to continue the business and by a process of transfer, responsibility rested finally with the liquidator to attempt to sell the remaining assets.

At the earlier hearing, objections were raised that the business no longer existed, and Mr. W. Quin, Scottish Licensing Authority, continued to allow evidence to be brought as to the present state of the matter.

Mr. Quin.Confirmed the need to demonstrate whether a business still existed and Mr. James Reid, the liquidator. appeared. He gave evidence of the decision to continue and of repossession of certain Vehicles.

Mr. John Fowlie, who had assisted Mr. Ayton, gave evidence of continuing business, ended by re-possession. Hiring followed. Six vehicles were necessary to handle the work done until October last when all activity stopped apart from hiring.

Mr. Quin pointed out that operation after liquidation of a business was illegal and must be licensed.

Refrigerated?

THE relative merits of refrigerated I transport as against insulated transport for carriage of fresh meat between the Lothians and English depots served by Armour and Co., as selling agents for Scottish , Meat Producers Ltd., were carried a stage further at Edinburgh on Monday.

Mr. W. Quin, the Scottish Licensing Authority, adjourned the case at an earlier hearing to allow the applicant, John Russell (Grangemouth) Ltd., and the objectors, B.R.S. and Road Services (Caledonian), to provide evidence in their application for an A licence for 12 artic. vehicles and 12 refrigerated containers.

When the case was further adjourned, the L.A. made two short-term grants.
