Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Orders pieced by Teesside Municipal Transport for 15 new buses have been split between Leyland and Daimler. Five Leyland Atlantean chassis are to be purchased at a cost of £3,930 each. while 10 Daimler Fleetline chassis costing £4,775 each are also to be bought. The buses will be fitted with double-deck bodies by Northern Counties Motor and Engineering Co. Ltd., at a cost of £4,775 each.

This latest order contradicts the speculation in CM December 20 1968 that the new transport undertaking was likely to standardize on Leyland buses only in the future. Meanwhile, 10 Fleetlines with Northern Counties bodies designed for o-m-o and ordered by the Middlesbrough undertaking now absorded into the Teesside one, have been delivered. The design of these buses includes uncompromisingly square and plain fronts as can be seen by the accompanying photograph.
