• Sir Reginald Wilson, chairman, National Freight Corporation, has agreed to chair the panel of judges for the essay competition sponsored by the RHA. Other members of the panel will be Mr. James Barrie, Mr. P. S. Henman, Mr. F. R. Lyon and Mr. J. E.G. Smith.

The subject of the 5,000-word essay is "Towards a better road haulage industry". The first-prize winner will be asked to present his or her paper as a subject for discussion at one of the sessions of the RHA annual conference in Aviemore in October. First prize is 50 guineas and a gold medal, second 30 guineas, and third 15 guineas. The competition will be open to all members of the RHA with the exception of associate members) and their staff. The final date for entries is June 30.
