AFTER discovering that they had been picking up passengers at an unauthorized point for two years, Titterington's Coaches, Ltd„ Sabden, were advised to "confess "• immediately, the North Western Traffic Commissioners were told at Blackpool, on Tuesday. The stop at Whiteiate Garage, Padiham, had been approved by the police and the local authority, it was stated, but the operators did not realize that the Commissioners' permission had to be obtained.

Mr. H. Backhouse, for Titterington's, said this mistake should not be held against them, because the point was more convenient to passengers than the former one. He asked that the move should be approved.

_ There were objections from Ribble. Motor Services, Ltd., and W. C. Standerwick, Ltd., who claimed that it would ;be unfair if Titterington's gained an advantage through illegal activities.

Mr. Bathhouse explained that the change was made in 1956 when Titter: ington's were taken over by Central Motors. It was decided to, move a stop at Shakespeare Street, Padiham, to Central Motors' headqUarters.

Mrs: J. M. Pollard, a director, told Mr. F. D. Walker, for the objectors, that Central Motors had no road service licence, but operated on contract. During the past two years she had made one renewal application and one application for a variation.

After being told that Standerwick's had a picking-up point less than half a mile away. Mr. F. Williamson, chairman, said decision would be reserved until the Commissioners had seen the transcript of the variationapplication. The objectors claimed that they then raised the question of picking up at Central Motors. Until a deci§-idn were given, Titterington's could continue to use this point.
