Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• City analysts are predicting two years of modest growth by the Transport Development Group, which has turned in financial results in line with its expectations.

TDG says it made steady progress in the year to 31 December 1994. Amid tight margins in the sector pre-tax profits were up by 26% to £33.9m after the sale of Unilink, Beck & Pollitzer Engineering, TDG's Australian group and subsidiaries in Portugal and France. Profits before tax and these sales fell from £34.3m in 1993 to £32.9m in 1994.

Williams Distribution, TDG's paper and packaging logistics arm, had a good year, winning new business from Hawarden Sheeters, Purfleet Board, Johnson Control Plastics and Gerber Foods And Beck & Pollitzer, the group's consumer and industrial manufacturing logistics specialist, had "an excellent year of sales growth in the UK with turnover growing by nearly a third". The merger of Harris Distribution, Albany and Network Logistics has resulted in "immediate cost savings".
