CHUBB Fire Security has introduced a one kilo size HaIon extinguisher which can be kept in a glove compartment or fixed to a bracket under the driver's seat.
The introduction of the new model coincides with the release of latest Home Office statistics which show that the incidence of road vehicle fires increased by 74 per cent from 1973 to 1983.
A feature of the extinguisher is its controllable discharge. This enables the user to pause when the fire appears to be out, while retaining some extinguishant to cope with possible re-ignition. The discharge time is 11 seconds.
The extinguisher is 295mm high and 88mm wide (11.6in x 3.4in). It is supplied with a quick-release bracket and retails at £16.70 including vat.
