PROD UCTIQN of a new series of 5-ton and 7-ton goods vehicles is now beginning at the nationalized Renault factories in France. One of the new models was first subjected to a test run of .6,875 miles in equatorial Africa, and is of interest on account of the horizontal oil engine which powers it.

Like the engine fitted to the Renault bus, the new unit is of 6,230 c.c. and develops 105 b.h.p. at 2.500 r.p.m. A fuel-consumption rate of 11.7 m.p.g. and a maximum speed of 50 m.p.h. are quoted.
