The parks committee of WIMBLEDON Corporation has authorized the purchase of a motor mower at a cost not exceeding £150.

The motorbus committee of EASTBOURNE Corporation has accepted the tender of the India Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., at £1,549, for the supply of tyres for 12 months.

The health committee of NORTHAMPTON Corporation has decided to purchase a Ford 30-ewt. van, which could be used in emergency as an ambulance, at a cost of approximately £250.

COVENTRY Corporation is to purchase four new double-deck buses and recommends for acceptance the tender of the Maudslay Motor 'Co., Ltd. The type chosen is a 00-seater double-saloon sixwheeler and to cover the cost of the machines application is to be made to the Ministry of Transport for sanction to a loan of £8,732.

WINDSOR Corporation is inviting tenders for the supply of two 3-ton petroldriven dustless refuse collectors, equipped with hydraulic tipping gear. Further particulars may be obtained upon application to the borough engineer, 10, Alma Road, Windsor. Tenders have to be delivered not later than 9 a.m. on June 15th.

LEIGH Corporation is inviting tenders for the supply of four 32-seater doubleentrance single-deck and two double, deck motorbuses, or, alternatively, separate tenders for the chassis and bodies. Further particulars may be obtained from the manager, Leigh Corporation Motors, Hoiden Road, Leigh, and tenders have to be delivered not later than noon on June 19th.

Profits of Southdown Motor Services.

The accounts of Southdown Motor Services, Ltd., for the year ended March 31st, 1031, show a net profit of 275,911, after allowing £125;219 for depreciation and accounting for several smaller items. The distribution for the year is maintained at 15 per cent. on the increased capital. The reserve receives an allotment of £15,000, leaving a sum of £22,422 to be carried forward, as against £21,511 a year earlier.

An International Conference on Bituminous Coal.

England will be represented by a 111031bar of important men at the Third International Conference on Bituminous Coal, which will be held at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, in Pittsburgh, U.S.A., from November 16th-21st. Prof. W. A. Bone, of the Imperial College of Science and Technology, Dr. Cecil Lander, three tor 4. the Fuel Research Board, Dr. It. Leasing, Consulting chemist, and Dr. W. H. Cadman, of the Anglo-Persian Oil Co., Ltd., all of London, arc amongstthe group that has accepted the invitation of Dr. T. S. Baker, president of the institute and organizer of the conferences, to participate in this year's event.

Austria, Belgium, France,. Germany;

Holland, Poland, Spain and Switzerland are also sending representatives. The competition between natural gas, water, coal and petroleum, as sources of powl.r, will be One of the chief topics.

A New Lightweight Bus Seat: A new seat, known as the Nesta Fairyweight bus seat, has recently been placed on the market. Although it weighs just under 35 lb., it has been built to combine comfort and strength. In addition, the bottom of the seat back is cut away throughout its entire length to give more shin room to passengers seated behind.

The question of maintenance has also been studied and the seat cushion is reversible from back to front, thus giving double the wear. It can be modified to suit individual requirements as regards length, rake of back, etc., and, ,f desired, can be mounted on two pedestal legs.
