Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An owner-driver was jailed for 15 years last week for smuggling £1.8m-worth of Ecstasy into the country.

Raymond Miles was caught with 45kg of the drug when stopped by Customs officers at Folkestone on 17 October last year, He denied smuggling the drugs, but admitted evading more than £407,000 in duty on 3,240.000 cigarettes which were also found in his lorry.

Canterbury Crown Court heard that when Miles' home in Gravesend was searched, more than £95,000 in cash was discovered. He had two expensive cars and a Harley Davidson.

Judge Timothy Nash told the self-employed father of three, who ran R&K International, that he "could not be faulted for jailing him for 20 years. Ecstasy kills far more rapidly than many other drugs."

Another man, David Henderson of Ashworths, admitted evading duty on the cigarettes; he was jailed for three years and four months. Miles was given a concurrent sentence of two-anda-half years on this charge.
