by Salisbury-based Endless Holdings in the company's first entry into the bus and coach market.

The sale, which is the 37th privatisation of a National Bus Company, marks the return of Shamrock and Rover to private ownership after 18 years under NBC.

Under the deal, Shamrock will be operated by Endless' subsidiary Drawlane. Endless' current range of interests includes industrial and commercial cleaning, water treatment and medical supplies and equipment, and the company sees the acquisition as a natural extension of its domestic interests.

Shamrock and Rambler operates 44 coaches on tours, excursions and private hire work. It also provides coach services between Southampton, Bournemouth and London for National Express.

In recent years the company has expanded into minibus operations, with a fleet of 29 vehicles in the Bournemouth suburbs, working under the name Charlies Cars.

Shamrock and Rambler currently employs 190 fulltime and seasonal staff.
